DAT Meeting Schedule for 2008

Meetings begin at 6:30pm

Visitors are welcome.

 

The Disaster Action Team (DAT) is a team of trained Red Cross paid and/or volunteer staff sent to the scene of a disaster to provide immediate disaster relief to those affected by disaster and to emergency workers responding to the incident, as required.

 Key responsibilities include:

·                       Willingness to support the Red Cross Mission

·                       Provide timely response to disasters and assist victims

·                       Respond to disaster scenes as assigned by the Team Captain within specific time constraints

·                       Provide Red Cross services (food, clothing, shelter assistance) to disaster victims

·                       Complete all ARC forms at disaster site

·                       Provide referrals to other agencies

Qualifications Include:

·                       Strong organizational, verbal, and written communications skills

·                       Ability to be a team player

·                       Able to respond at all hours or as scheduled with own transportation

·                       Non-judgmental and aware of diversity issues

·                       Able to maintain confidentiality with client matters

Training:

·                       Orientation to American Red Cross

·                       Introduction to Disaster Services

·                       Community Services

·                       Shelter Operations

·                       First Aid/CPR/AED certification

·                       Family Services: Providing Emergency Assistance
